Medical Students: Year 4
Fourth year students have the exclusive right to choose coverage up to the amount of $3,500 per month. The Future Income Option "FIO" is larger, allowing for expansive growth in income. The Own Occupation Plus option is also available, providing coverage for specialists. If you are unable to perform all the duties of your specialized position, then you can be compensated for the percentage of income that has been lost. For example, a surgeon who starts to have hand tremors can no longer perform surgery, but he or she can still be a diagnostician or an instructor.
The Cost of Living Benefit is also available which causes your benefits to increase in step with inflation. The benefits are tied to the Consumer Price Index.
